Craps Rules

The game of craps can be intimidating because there are so many different things to bet on. However, basic craps rules are actually quite simple. The game of craps is a game of dice. According to craps rules, there is one person who shoots the dice (called the shooter) and everyone else bets on the outcome of that roll. There are a large number of things for players to bet on—Will the shooter win or lose? What will the next dice roll be?

The most common bets in craps are the Pass and Don’t Pass bets, which are basically bets on whether the shooter will win or lose. Craps rules state that the shooters turn folds out as follows, leading to a win or loss:
- If the come-out roll, or first roll, is 7 or 11 then the shooter wins. Players who bet on the Pass line are paid.
- If the come-out is 2, 3 or 12 the shooter loses. These numbers are known as “craps”.
- If the come-out is any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) then that number is called the “point” number. According to craps rules, the shooter must re-roll his point before rolling a 7 in order to win.
As mentioned before, Pass and Don’t Pass bets are the most common in craps and are even money bets. Craps rules offer a number of other bets as well. A Come bet is a bet that can be made at any point in the game and works the same as Pass. However, the first number rolled after the bet is placed becomes the point. Don’t Come bets are comparable to Don’t Pass.

Craps rules also offer a number of bets with higher payouts, such as bets on which specific number will be rolled next. However, when you are just starting out its best to stick to Pass, Don’t Pass, Come and Don’t Come if you want to hold on to your bankroll.

Now that you understand the basics of craps rules you’re ready to start playing.
