Across the United States, lawmakers are beginning to support the legalization of online casino gambling, despite the recession and the UIGEA. online casino news: Across the United States Lawmakers begin to support online casino gambling

Indeed, they say that the interest and popularity of online gambling all over the United States is so huge that it cannot be ignored. In addition, there is the added bonus of the massive amounts of revenue that casino gambling would generate in taxes. Even with an attempted prohibition in place, the UIGEA, American spend some six billion dollars annually at online casinos, according to a study by H2.

US Representative Dean Heller of Nevada was quoted in saying “First of all, they know that billions of dollars are being lost overseas. They know that Internet gaming goes on all of the time. How do we take a piece of the action and bring it back into this country?"

In saying this, Heller was echoing the feelings of other lawmakers, including Representative Jim McDermott of Washington, who has already drafted legislation allocation revenue from potential online casino gambling profits.

"We are sending a multibillion industry offshore and underground," McDermott told the Ways and Means Committee at a Congressional hearing on his bill. "As a result, we are making tax criminals of Americans who can't declare their online winnings to the IRS."

US land-based casino operators would eagerly jump in if regulation were placed on Internet gaming, say experts. This would only serve to increase potential revenue, rendering current estimates short of realized income.

"Obviously, every Nevada casino out there would probably have a site, if they legalize it," said Larry Woolf, CEO and president of the Navegante Group, to the news paper.
