People living in Alabama in the United States may have to go elsewhere to get their gambling thrills in the very near future. The Task force on illegal gambling continued their assault on what the governor believes are illegal gambling operators, among them some of the biggest employers in the state. online casino news: Alabama Task Force Shuts Down Another Online Casino

Greenetrack is one of the largest employers in Alabama, or at least it was, until a raid by authorities on Tuesday, thousands of automatic bingo machines were confiscated. Right after the raid, the Task Force was shut down by Judge Eddie Hardway, with the state appealing to lift the injunction against it.

In the meantime, thousands of residents of Alabama have lost their jobs. The economic recession in Alabama had the government looking for ways to find new sources of revenue, and it now looks as if the recession will have to be dealt with without the taxes of thousands of casino employees, and their employers.

"I challenge Gov. Riley to bring some industry or jobs to Greene County that provides some of the same benefits that Greenetrack provides," said Curtis Travers of Tuscaloosa. Criticism of Governor Riley has been growing over the past few months, and the gambling issue could be the one that determines who replaces Riley as Governor. The gubernatorial candidates have been pressing the gambling issue, and in the upcoming elections voters will have to decide on whether they want casinos or not.

Attorney General Troy King has already tried to seize control of the Task Force, but the Supreme Court countermanded this, stating that Riley was within his rights in creating the task force. The Supreme Court has already ruled in favor of the Government in a number of cases relating to casinos and gambling.
